Scott originally came to Thought Gap with a need to gain guidance in developing
a new body
of work and to build an updated portfolio capable of communicating
a high level of sophistication
targeted at the national advertising agency
market. Scott also needed a direct mail campaign that
would present his
images with a supportive concept and style.
The process:
Scott travels to various parts of the country to capture new images
that speak to his
fresh perspective on creating images. Through a rigid
selection process, images are selected to
either contribute to the new
style of location work or be used as a backdrop for the visual stories
Scott wanted to tell.
The result:
Through the process of image review, free association writing and contemplation,
Scott and Kristianne came up with a direct mail message that spoke to his new
work's reflection
on American life and the spirit the images evoke:
Quiet | Ground
Simple | Dream
Distant | Soul
The three
distinct booklets designed by Jim Klein reached 4500 Art Buyers, Art
and Creative
Directors inadvertising agencies and design firms across
the country.
The style
of the promos laid a foundation for Scott's 2004 Blackbook ads,
web site designed by
Kristianne and loose leaf print portfolio.
